Diet Pills That Work Fast

Diet pills can help you to lose weight fast but the two main factors in losing weight and keeping it off is eating healthy nutritious foods that naturally burn fat and exercising. When you eat nutrient dense foods and perform exercises like running walking, and swimming, you naturally increase your metabolic weight and burn fat.

The five most commonly prescribed diet pills that can help you to lose weight are Phentermine, Orlistat, Contrave, Belviq, and Qsymia. Taking these prescribed drugs will help you to drop those unwanted pounds while also eating a healthy diet and exercising. Physicians usually prescribe these weight loss medications for their patients who are morbidly obese which means they have a BMI of 30 or higher and their excess weight is causing serious health risk like Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or other metabolic related diseases associated with being overweight.

Phentermine helps to curb your appetite. It is also prescribed under the names of Suprenza or Adipex. It is not approved for long-term use. Usually you will be prescribed Phentermine for only a few weeks. The side effects of this drug can be serious. You could experience elevated blood pressure which can cause heart palpitations, dizziness, restlessness, shortness of breath, tremors, insomnia, and chest pain.

While using this drug, you may experience more difficulty in doing the daily activities you are used to doing.  You also may experience drowsiness which may impair your ability to drive or operate machines that require you to be alert and oriented. There is also a risk of developing dependency.

Orlistat helps to prevent your body from absorbing about 1/3 of the fat you eat. It is also prescribed under the name Xenical. If you get it without a prescription, it is called Alli which is half the prescription dose of Xenical.
Orlistat can be prescribed for long-term use.

The side effects of using this diet pill are the inability to control your bowel movements, excessive farting, abdominal cramping, having a leaky oily stool, and having increased bowel movements. These embarrassing side effects are usually temporary and mild but could worsen if you continue a diet that is high in fat.

There have been reported cases of liver damage when using this drug but the cases are rare and it hasn’t been proven that using Orlistat is a direct link to liver damage. You should be on a low-fat diet while taking Orlistat. You should also be taking a multi-vitamin at least 2 hours before or after taking the drug. The reason being is that Orlistat temporarily makes it difficult for your body to absorb vitamins K, A, D, and E.

Contrave also helps to curb your appetite and reduces your cravings for food. This diet pill is a combination of two previous FDA approved drugs which are Naltrexone and Bupropion. Naltrexone is prescribed for patients who have an alcohol and/or opioid dependency. Bupropion is prescribed to treat depression and smoking cessation.

Contrave is prescribed for long-term use and the side effects you may experience are constipation, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, vomiting, headache, insomnia, and diarrhea. Serious side effects include experiencing suicidal thoughts, seizures, increased heart rate, and high blood pressure. The FDA warns patients who use this drug if you don’t see a reduction in 5% of your weight in 12 weeks; patients should discontinue use of this drug because Contrave may not be right for them.

Belviq helps to control your appetite and it can be used for long-term use. If you don’t have diabetes you could experience fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, constipation, and dry mouth. If you do have diabetes, you may experience fatigue, back pain, low blood sugar, coughing, and headache.

If you are taking medications for depression, you will need to be closely monitored by your physician because rare but serious side effects could occur like confusion and fever. Also if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, Belviq is not for you. If you are prescribed Belviq and have not lost 5% of your weight after 12 weeks of taking this medication, you should discontinue use because this drug is not for you.

Qsymia helps you to control your appetite. This drug is combined with Topiramate, a migraine/seizure drug and Phentermine. Topiramate helps you to lose weight by burning the calories you eat, reduces your food cravings, and it helps you to feel full.

You can take Qsymia for the long-term if it is helping you to lose the weight. While taking this diet pill, you may experience insomnia, a different sense of taste with food, dry mouth, tingling sensations in the hands and feet, constipation, and dizziness. The more serious side effects of using Qsymia are vision problems. You could lose your sight if this side effect isn’t treated immediately. Birth defects, increased heart rate, and suicidal tendencies are also more harmful side effects of using this drug.

If you are pregnant, Qsymia is not for you but unlike Belviq you can take Qsymia if you plan on getting pregnant in the future. While taking Qsymia, you should be using some method of birth control and you should get tested for pregnancy each month while taking this drug.

If you have hyperthyroidism, history of stroke, heart disease, or glaucoma, you should not be taking Qsymia. Also if you are unable to lose 3% of your weight after 12 weeks of using Qsymia, the FDA cautions you to stop taking the drug or your physician should increase the dosage for another twelve weeks. If you still are unable to lose the weight after an increased dosage, your physician should gradually take you off of the drug.
